They require quite a time commitment though, so I think you are smart to pace yourself and pick up volume two in your own, good time. Broadening horizons is what it's all about so I'm pleased you've found something new to enjoy.

Teresa, absolutely I do like a bit of drive to a narrative. I have a bad feeling about Titus Alone judging by things I've read, but who knows, it may turn out to be the star of the trilogy.Matthew Selwynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00723650905588749638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6600022529355932646.post-1303092861049452732011-08-03T01:11:08.609+01:002011-08-03T01:11:08.609+01:00I totally agree that Gormenghast is better, and le...I totally agree that Gormenghast is better, and less flabby than Titus Groan. The world Peake was building in the first book was fascinating, but I was feeling the lack of narrative drive by the end. I'll be interested to see what you think of Titus Alone.Teresahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09896331683344872038noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6600022529355932646.post-35064520754974191192011-08-02T21:38:49.811+01:002011-08-02T21:38:49.811+01:00I have only read Titus Groan, but I'm interest...I have only read Titus Groan, but I'm interested that you say Gormenghast is "better". I liked it very much, especially the description (one feels one is living there!), but fantasy is not my favorite genre. I've laid it aside for other more pressing reads, but perhaps I'll pick it up one day. I did by the trilogy for Jackie's read-along, and it is good to broaden one's horizons beyond what one would normally read. For this, I'm grateful.Bellezza https://www.blogger.com/profile/18073864187188953633noreply@blogger.com
