UK Bestsellers: June 2012
So five out of the six best selling books on Amazon this month were some variation of the Fifty Shades series - not bad going for a trilogy! But come on everyone; we've all had a laugh, now pull your socks up and move onto a more worthy literary fixation - even without sexy bits, there are some other books out there that are quite worthy of your reading time. For example, rocketing in at number seven is (the wonderfully named) Buster Bumblechops's literary tour de force (no, I've no idea what Moshi Monsters are either!). Dare I say it, I'd even allow for the fact that you might want to wean yourself off the sexy-lit with a little mass-slaughtering of the underprivileged (The Hunger Games). Still, if you want the opinion of someone who's actually read Fifty Shades, try a this pro-feminist critique of the guff (it's well-argued, and I can't say I disagree with the logic).
